The Dive From Clausen's Pier is a 2005 Lifetime original film based on an Ann Packer novel directed by Harry Winer and starring Will Estes, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Sean Maher. It premiered on July 25, 2005 on Lifetime. Mike is a quadriplegic after suffering a major diving accident. His fiancée, Carrie, is not in love with him anymore and is confused and lost after the accident. As a result, she decides to move to Manhattan and away from her small town life. Along the way she meets a handsome, older man who has problems of his own. Carrie tries to figure out where her place in the world is in a journey of self discovery. Many of the characters in the film are in their late teens or early twenties, while in the source novel they are much older. The film also ends on a slightly more optimistic tone than the novel.

The technology is often secondary to this, but it is not ignored; several aspects, including their means of faster-than-light travel, are explained and loosely based on modern physics. The series was a hit in Japan, which led to the creation of a sequel, Misaki Chronicles, which also ran for 13 episodes. In North America, the television series was released by ADV Films, aired from 2 July 2003 to 24 September 2003, ran for 13 episodes, and was released in 3 volumes on VHS and DVD. Sentai Filmworks will re-release the series in a box set, including Misaki Chronicles.
Karol: A Man Who Became Pope is a 2005 TV miniseries directed by Giacomo Battiato, and created as a Polish-Italian-French-German and Canadian joint cooperation project. Karol is a biography of Karol Wojtyła, later known as Pope John Paul II, beginning in 1939 when Karol was only 19 years old and ending at the Papal conclave, October 1978 that made him Pope. The TV miniseries was supposed to première at the very beginning of April 2005 in the Vatican, but it was delayed due to the Pope's death. It was broadcast for the first time by the Italian television station Canale 5 on the first day of the 2005 papal election. Although it was originally broadcast on television, it was also released in theaters, which allowed the film to be shown in Poland. The incredible success of the movie prompted the creation of a sequel, Karol: The Pope, The Man, which portrayed Karol's life as Pope.
Diver Dan was a series of 104 seven-minute live-action shorts made for children's television. Made by Brian Cartoons, it was syndicated and distributed by ITC Entertainment. The shows were sometimes re-edited into half-hour blocks by local stations. The series featured the adventures of a diver in an old-fashioned diving suit who talked to the passing fish. The series was filmed in live action with puppet fish; the underwater effect was achieved by shooting through an aquarium.
